The Leadership Foundation’s remit
We are committed to developing and improving the management and leadership skills of existing and future leaders of higher education. Wherever the opportunity arises we shall work in partnership with a range of organisations within and outside of higher education.
We are a company limited by guarantee (company registration number 4929860) registered in England and Wales.
We are also a registered charity (charity registration number 1101959).
Our registered office and operational address is:
Peer House, 8 - 14 Verulam Street, London WC1X 8LZ
We have a board of trustees who are responsible for strategy, finance and employment. All board members were appointed through open competition and are representative of the higher education sector.
How we operate
We do not have a college or fixed training centre. We will meet needs where they arise, through our experienced staff and associates. Our head office is in Holborn and we have staff based in others parts of the UK. The total full-time equivalent is around 26.
We earn our income from a combination of programmes, events, and membership fees, and investment by the four UK higher education funding bodies.
Our key sponsors
We were established by the UUK and GuildHE and we are therefore primarily responsible to each university and higher education college collectively.
Because of their significant funding support, we have a specific accountability to the four higher education funding bodies of the UK. They support us to deliver across the full leadership agenda and ensure that we offer value for money.
We maintain regular liaison with the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, and the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
We are a membership organisation of and for a sector that has some of the brightest minds in the UK.
Our members are key to our strategy and form a community of higher education institutions with a clear commitment to and experience of developing leadership, governance and management capabilities at all levels. Academic and professional services staff from member institutions contribute to our programmes, projects and research and advise on benefits and services.
