1 March 2013

'Listen to your customers’ says Sir Terry Leahy. As a new chief executive, I travelled to meet mine. To ask university vice-chancellors and senior teams what they see as their leadership challenges and how the Leadership Foundation can do more to help.

They say they want leadership development more than ever before, and at every level. They want quality and value for money, more help with a complex change agenda, to develop better governance and leadership of their organisation and, for every challenge, to seek and exploit new opportunities. They want to draw on wider practice internationally and beyond the sector.

It’s no accident that high performing HEIs are also some of the Leadership Foundation’s best customers – if you are at the top, or determined to get there - you invest in your people. In my previous job as a Director of a top world-ranked business school it was easy to see how businesses rated the best organisations to work for, and they are invariably high performing ones, with a really clear vision, a focus on what they do best. They have a record of investment in the development of skilful leaders and of highly engaged, motivated and talented staff who can fulfil their potential.

In a more competitive world, universities tell me they want to look beyond their own sector and compare with the best wherever it can be found. Whether it is leading a complex multi-national service business, or best in class public service – a police chief or hospital chief executive – to share with leaders who inspire excellent service organisations for public benefit with high levels of professional skill, integrity and trust.

The Leadership Foundation exists to help you do the same. It’s brand is already known for high quality personal leadership development including the flagship Top Management Programme, oversubscribed for the next run TMP31, which gets underway in July.

And increasingly, the demand is also for the Leadership Foundation’s fast growing capability in programmes tailored and delivered just for your own organisation, consultancy to help your top team gel together, reshape your business model and take on the change agenda. The Leadership Foundation offers executive coaching and research on the hot leadership issues. We have the faculty and consultants who know higher education , are well up the learning curve to save you time, who understand your context and know how to meet the particular needs and culture of academia.

Get in touch, discuss your needs without commitment and let us show what we can do: info@lfhe.ac.uk

Welcome...

We are a membership organisation of and for a sector that has some of the brightest minds in the UK.

Our members are key to our strategy and form a community of higher education institutions with a clear commitment to and experience of developing leadership, governance and management capabilities at all levels.
