
Welsh Governor Development Day

A development day for Governors, Vice-Chancellors and other senior staff and stakeholders from Welsh institutions, sponsored by HEFCW. The keynote speech was given by John McCormick, Chair of the Review of Higher Education Governance in Wales. The event offered an opportunity for delegates to consider the implications of the Review, which was announced by the Minister at last year’s event in March. Sessions were facilitated to discuss what level and type of support would be most appropriate for Governors in what is undoubtedly a fast changing environment.
This event was attended by senior managers, governors and clerks/secretaries to the Boards of Welsh based HEIs. The meeting was facilitated by Dr Heather Graham, Former Associate Director for Wales, Leadership Foundation.
Welsh TMP Alumni Dinner

This is an annual event sponsored by the Leadership Foundation which enables colleagues to meet and exchange thoughts on the current situation and to continue the support networks built up through the TMP. The pre-dinner speaker was Professor Janet Beer, Vice Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University. The event was held at Woods Restaurant on Cardiff Bay.
Conference: Performance Matters

The annual conference sponsored by the Leadership Foundation focused on performance enhancement. Keynote speakers were David Macleod, Chair of the Westminster Government Review on Employee Engagement (presentation available here) and Dr Huw Jones, Chief Executive of Sports Wales. Nia Lynn, who is a jazz singer and voice coach, ended the day with a session entitled “Achieving the unexpected”
The conference was held in Cardiff and Delegates included Pro-Vice Chancellors, Directors of HR and Directors and Co-ordinators of Staff development from Universities across Wales.
