Higher education institutions are increasingly dependent on technology to support and deliver their core business. Senior leaders and managers within institutions now need a greater understanding and awareness of the significant opportunities and challenges associated with technology in order to maximise the strategic benefit for UK higher education.
The Leadership Foundation, JISC and Cardiff University are today joining forces to promote the integration of technology within institutional strategy. The partnership brings together world-leading expertise in leadership with considerable experience in supporting and promoting the innovative use of technology.
The first step in this collaboration is a study to gather evidence of current levels of awareness and practice with a view to promoting engagement with the strategic technology agenda. Consultants Duke & Jordan have been commissioned to undertake the study, with interviews and desktop research. Their findings will be shared at a UK-wide conference in Cardiff on the 24-25 November 2008. Building the University of the Future: People and IT in Partnership is a joint venture between Cardiff University and the Leadership Foundation. Both the study and the conference will highlight the leadership skills needed for successful strategic engagement with technology.
