This one and a half day Leadership Summit which took place on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 February 2008 at the RCOG was attended by vice-chancellors, pro vice-chancellor, senior managers, governors and stakeholders. It offered an insight into some of the key current and future challenges relating to leadership, governance and management in higher education.
The plenary sessions and active workgroups drew upon the experience and perspectives of senior figures from inside and outside higher education on themes such as leadership, change, structures, collaborative partnerships, and governance. The event offered senior leaders and managers from across higher education the opportunity to hear about innovative and exciting research and case studies, to discover what their peers within higher education and beyond are doing in this area, and to debate and discuss issues relating to leadership and management strategy, research and practice.
A summary of the key themes arising out of the Leadership Foundation's programmes, development projects and commissioned research was also presented. The implications of these findings were examined, and responses discussed in relation to leadership development, institutional structures, relationships and dynamics, leading in context and professionalisation.
PowerPoint presentations from most of the sessions are now available to be viewed online via the presentations page.
