The Leadership Foundation for Higher Education is pleased to present for you a new programme of events designed to engage and support governors.
In this year of challenge and change, we will be offering the Governor Development Programme in two parts. The brochure covers the first part of 2011-12. The seminars for the second half of the year will be finalised closer to the time so that we can ensure that all our events remain topical. We will be able to respond to contemporary events in the fast-evolving environment in which HEIs are now operating, and in which expectations of governing bodies are heightened. If would like printed copies of the new brochure please contact Tori Senior

Our 2011-12 programme is shaped by the requirements of governors as expressed in survey results from February-March 2011. We asked you for information on the type of events you would like to see and we also invited you to propose any improvements we could make. We hope you will see how we have taken on board the feedback from this survey in designing this year’s programme. All the seminars will have speakers who are experienced and expert in their aspect of governance. With skilful facilitation they will share their rich knowledge and stimulate informative and motivating participant discussions.
In order to provide this selection of events and seminars, we are working in partnership with a number of key organisations. These include:
This partnership arrangement ensures that, in attending these events, you get the opportunity to hear a variety of current perspectives. In addition, you may well come across this programme at events or in communications from some of these organisations, as well as in the normal communications from the Leadership Foundation.
The Governor Development Programme is designed to address the needs of all of our governors across the UK. It is important to note that while days may be flagged as more relevant to particular governors, any governor is welcome to attend any event. In addition to the events covered in this programme we will also be adding additional events/conferences as the year develops to address the evolving situation.
The Governor Development Programme was started in 2005 and built on the earlier initiatives of the Committee of University Chairs (CUC). The programme is designed to support governors in all higher education institutions throughout the UK (members of boards of governors, councils and courts in Scotland). A cross sector group is advising and supporting the development of the programme. To download a copy of the 2009/2010 GDP Annual Report please click here
