UniversitiesUK publishes Patterns of Higher Education Institutions in the UK which is a source of useful information. The report Patterns of Further and Higher Education in Colleges and Universities in England may also be helpful. There is also a pocket-sized summary - Higher Education in Facts & Figures - available free from UUK and the scottishflagScottish Funding Council (SFC) publishes 7 on line leaflets explaining how the Council will work with institutions through to 2012. Institutional Diversity in UK Higher Education by Brian Ramsden gives an interesting review of various developments over a 16 year period including data on students and institutional mergers.

The government's official Unistats web site is primarily intended for applicants to higher education, and there is similar information on the Best Course for Me web site.

Universities UK have published The Supply of Part-time Higher Education in the UK which focuses particularly on part-time undergraduate provision, and the factors inhibiting its supply and growth.

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) publishes annually Education at a Glance, which provides comparative data on national education systems.
