Review of HE Governance in Wales
In March 2010 the Education Minister of the Welsh Assembly Government announced a review of higher education governance in Wales. The review is expected to include accountability matters; how governors should hold institutional management to account; mechanisms for the appointment of independent governors and support for governors which is independent of the management of their institutions.
The review is to be chaired by John McCormick, former Secretary of the BBC and Chair of the Scottish Qualifications Authority, and the other members will be:
- Mr Ed Smith, Vice-Chair of the HEFCE
- Professor Colin Riordan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Essex
- Mr John Fielden, Management Consultant
- Dame Janet Trotter, Chair of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust
- Professor Mari Lloyd-Williams
- Mr G T Davies
For regular updates on various matters governors may wish to join the HEFCE Governance e mail list.
