Government Response to the Browne Report

In his speech at the recent HEFCE Annual Conference, David Willetts commented on Lord Browne's Independent Review of Higher Education Funding and Student Finance. While he spoke very positively about the report, he said that the Government would not necessarily accept all of it. He did, however, indicate that there would be prompt action on the student finance issues so that changes could be in place for the 2012 student intake. He also told Vice-Chancellors that two difficult aspects of the report, the levy and fee cap, were still under consideration.
