HEFCE has issued new guidance to institutions in England with regard to funding, in response to a revised grant letter from the Secretary of State on 24 June 2010. In overall terms the HE sector in England is required to contribute savings of £200m. as part of the Chancellor's statement on 24 May 2010. The 10,000 extra student places for entry in Autumn 2010 remain.
