New Plan for a More Sustainable HE Sector

The new strategy recognises that the higher education sector can make a substantial and exemplary contribution to the challenge of sustainable development. That contribution can be achieved through:

the skills and knowledge that graduates learn and put into practice
research and exchange of knowledge through business, community and public policy engagement
higher education's own strategies and operations

In its action plan HEFCE undertakes to support the sector's work in embedding sustainable development in four ways:

through stakeholder engagement
building capacity
sharing good practice
rewarding sustainable behaviour
