What makes an Effective and High Perfoming Governing Body?

A report reviewing  research and data sources relating to the effectiveness of governance in universities and colleges was presented on 12 February 2009 to the Leadership Summit.

The report seeks to provide a basis for universities and colleges to consider what makes an effective and high performing governing body, and how they can assess the added value that boards provide to their institutions. It draws upon research evidence from a number of sources, and suggests a framework by which governing body effectiveness can be assessed.  Enquiries on the report should be made to its author Allan Schofield at allan.schofield@lfhe.ac.uk

A further report on the role and influence of the secretary to the governing body has also been published.
