January 25-26, 2006
The Leadership Summit focused on three interrelated dimensions:
Senior leaders and experts were welcomed from across UK HEIs and from all continents of the world, to take part in discussion about the impact, risks and opportunities surrounding internationalisation. Attendees gained an insight into how the UK is perceived by other countries as partner and competitor; discussed and share the leadership challenges of globalisation and internationalisation as they are experienced in different parts of the world; and debated how best to lead an internationalised institution.
A substantial briefing document, The Leadership and Development Challenges of Globalisation and Internationalisation, was prepared for the Leadership Summit 2006
The Post-Summit Report, was created as a follow up to the event. It contains a summary of the debates covered, and detailed notes of the issues covered in each workgroup.
Members of our ‘International Reference Group’ contributed towards the programme, and the group came together for the first time at the Summit to meet each other and share their experiences with the UK participants and other contributors.
