Membership
Membership of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education is open to all higher education institutions, related organisations and agencies and is by annual subscription.
Institutional membership demonstrates a clear commitment to developing leadership and management capabilities at all levels. The heart of our services and benefits is the continuation and enhancement of our contribution to, and investment in, the higher education sector.
New and enhanced membership benefits for 2011/12 include:
- A reduced fixed membership subscription rate for a three year commitment.
- Introducing a new LF Fellowship scheme offering professional recognition for individuals who have demonstrated a personal commitment to leadership development in higher education.
- Free places by invitation only on selected programme for members who are major users of our programmes.
- Extensive new free management development resource materials for in-house use supported by free workshop sessions. Launching in the autumn term there these free resource packs will cover topics such as √ Managing effective performance √ Personal effectiveness, personal impact, emotional intelligence √ Managing change in higher education √ Current challenges in higher education √ Lean management.
The packs will include all the necessary resources for the presenter and the participants, and we will be running free regional workshops to explain the resources and how to use them. Learn more about the LF Management Resource Packs.
- An additional free consultancy day if a certain level of spend is reached by member HEIs. Conditions apply.
Standard membership benefits:
- Special members’ rates 25% below the rate charged to non members applied to all Leadership Foundation programmes, events, products, and other services. For details of forthcoming programmes and events see the Calendar
- One free day of consultancy advice per year on any aspect of leadership and organisational development from a member of the Leadership Foundation team.
- Grant and investment schemes, such as Small Development Projects (SDPs), exclusively for members of the Leadership Foundation.
- Change Academy and other subsidised programmes, events and activities are only available to members of the Leadership Foundation.
- An invitation only free one day event exclusively for member HEIs who have been users of our consultancy service during the academic year. The topic will be one of national significance to higher education and will take place in June/July of the membership year.
- Free regional events on issues of local and national importance including opportunities to meet and discuss leadership, management and organisational development issues with your National or Regional Co-ordinator.
- Knowledge Bank, our regularly updated online information and resources on HR and organisational development issues, delivered in partnership with Goodpractice.net, is an exclusive service for members. For more information see the Knowledge Bank page.
- Invitations to a wide range of Leadership Foundation events including seminars, workshops and summits.
- Engage and In Practice, the Leadership Foundation’s quarterly magazine and its supplement are sent as print editions to member institutions. See Publications for all issues to date.
- Professional learning groups’ events, held in conjunction with AUA, AHUA, ARC, AUDE, AURIL, BUFDG, JISC, SCONUL, UCISA, UHR, the Staff Development Forum and many others, exclusively for members.
- LF-Members JISCMail mailing list with up-to-date news from the Leadership Foundation and an opportunity to pose queries and exchange experience with fellow members. More information is available on the LF-Members JISCmail page.

As part of our commitment to enhancing leadership throughout higher education the Leadership Foundation is pleased to announce its continuing support of the Staff Development Forum (SDF) and for small and specialist universities and higher education colleges through MASHEIN with funding for the current academic year 2010-11.
