REGION 04 - NORTH EAST ENGLAND
REGION 09 - YORKSHIRE AND HUMBERSIDE

Organised by: Lynne Howlett and Paul Mitchell

Free regional event:

INTERNATIONALISING HIGHER EDUCATION

Date: Friday 6 July 2012

Time: 11.00-15.00

Venue: The Woodhouse Suite, University House, University of Leeds

Internationalisation is of central importance to higher education today as the impact and implications of globalisation spread into all aspects of institutions’ teaching, learning, engagement and research. What challenges does this present for leadership across the institution, as institutions seek to re-focus the breadth and depth of their international strategies in ways that leverage significant opportunities?

At this event participants will hear short presentations from some of the key constituencies and participate in a panel debate about what the challenges might mean for our individual institutions, our staff and our services. Colleagues will share their own perspectives within a challenging, informed yet informal environment.

Purpose

To explore experiences of leading the internationalisation agenda both at a national level and also more locally from the perspective of University leaders, their staff and their students.

Participants will be given an opportunity to:

    • Hear from the region’s University leaders about their internationalisation strategies and aspirations.

    • Hear about the student perspective from a students’ union representative.

    • Consider positioning their own provision, share their own experiences and expertise in a joint problem solving forum.

    • Leave with new ideas about leading their own institution to address this agenda.

Book a place : places are free but strictly limited. Completed forms should be returned to Baljit Sandhu. If you have any questions about this event or the work of the regional co-ordinator for Yorkshire and Humberside please contact Paul Mitchell or North East Enagland Lynne Howlett
