Last year, AMOSSHE, in collaboration with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, commissioned a study to identify the leadership and management development priorities of directors and heads of student services and to propose some options as to how those priorities could be addressed. About 30% of member HEIs were involved in the study, the results of which were debated and endorsed by the AMOSSHE conference in July 2008. The full report can be accessed in the members’ section of the AMOSSHE website.
In the report, many directors and heads of student services highlighted a wish to understand better their own personal ‘journey’ as leaders. They seek support in their personal development and in thinking about the next step in their careers. They would welcome fresh insight into what motivates them, what they are like as leaders and what they aspire to be as leaders. This leadership development centre is designed to address those themes.
