A new 12 month research programme led by Newcastle and Northumbria universities will pave the way for the UK's first national leadership programme, aimed at helping managers build bridges between higher education and partner organisations, to benefit cities and regions. This new programme, supported by SCONUL, UCISA and the British Library, has been created to help experienced professional Information Services (IS) staff (typically covering library, ICT and related activities) with proven management experience, to deepen their understanding, leadership ability and develop their potential.
The second Leadership Summit takes place on 25-26 January 2006 in central London. The theme is the Leaderhship and Development Challenges of Globalisation and Internationalisation. The 24-hour programme provides the opportunity for senior leaders and managers from UK higher education institutions to focus upon the global challenges and opportunities facing them today. The speakers at the summit will all bring an international perspective to the day, from different regions of the world, and from a mix of universities and international agencies (UNESCO, OECD and the World Bank.)
