Higher education institutions are increasingly dependent on technology to support and deliver their core business. The Leadership Foundation and JISC are working jointly to stimulate awareness amongst senior leaders in higher education and to promote the integration of technology within institutional strategy. Consultants Duke & Jordan have been commissioned on behalf of the two organisations to gather evidence of current levels of awareness and practice with a view to promoting engagement with the strategic technology agenda. The study will involve interviews in a range of higher education institutions and desktop research.
Findings of the evidence-based study will be announced at a UK-wide conference in Cardiff. Building the University of the Future: People and IT in Partnership is a joint venture between Cardiff University and the Leadership Foundation, with support from JISC, and aims to build on the experience of universities that have already moved Information Systems (IS) from a service provider role to that of a full partner in the development and delivery of university strategy.
Both the study and the conference (Cardiff, 24-25 November 2008) will highlight the leadership skills needed for successful strategic engagement with technology. More information about the conference will be available shortly.
