How to Lead Leadership Development

Both business and not-for-profit organisations including HEIs are hungry for effective leadership to help them overcome their challenges. Millions of pounds are invested annually in executive development, but indications are that the return on this investment is often small. Dr Mark Jenner, Leadership Foundation Director Leadership Programmes, believes that effective leadership development needs an architectural mindset; insightful strategic diagnosis which links business challenges to leadership capability; robust processes which assess existing leadership performance and potential and intelligent development processes which create organisationally impactful leadership. Put simply, leadership development itself has to be led, be pertinent to the needs of the organisation and its ongoing success monitored.

Mark will explore the detail of his beliefs in his presentation How to Lead Leadership Development on Tuesday 13 June at the CIPD Getting to Grips with the People Factor conference at Aston University, Birmingham.
