We are delighted to report that HEIs have submitted over 50 completed bids for the current round of Small Development Projects (SDP) funding. This is far and away the highest number since 2004, when we began funding projects in HEIs that we believe would make a difference, and follows some hundred or so enquiries and discussions in the run up to submission. The quality is again very high indeed and the variety of topics addressed has broadened considerably compared to previous years.
Naturally we are extremely keen to support as many of these bids as possible so we have been working hard over the past few weeks to try and identify further funding. We're delighted to say that we have been successful in this, and are now able to fund an additional five projects at up to £10,000 each, bringing our total investment in this round to £150,000 - fifteen projects. This brings the number of funded SDPs to over 70 in total, providing the sector with innovative and experimental activities designed to benefit individual HEIs and enrich UK higher education in general.
We will be contacting all those who submitted a bid to let them know the outcome during early February.
