We have added three new publications to our ‘Getting to Grips’ series. These additions to the easy-to -use guides for governors, are on the topics of internationalisation; research & knowledge transfer; academic standards, quality and the student experience.
The guides have been designed either for use by individual governors to increase their understanding of these topics in relation to higher education, or by universities and higher education colleges themselves, to support their own in-house governor development activities.
They are available to download in the governance publications section of this website: link here.
Following a major project looking at the effective governance, we have also published a new report ‘A framework for identifying governing body effectiveness in higher education.’ With this working guide universities and higher education colleges can irrespective of size, mission or governance consider their own effectiveness. It is also possible for institutions to take the next step and undertake confidential inter-institutional comparisons with like-minded institutions.
The brochure and the survey that goes with it can be found here.
The work for this project has been developed by a partnership of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education and the Committee for University Chairs, and is a leadership, governance and management (LGM) project funded by Hefce.
If you would prefer to have hard copies of the Getting to Grips publications and the ‘framework’ brochure please email info@lfhe.ac.uk and we will send you a booking form so that you can complete your order. The Leadership Foundation will cover the cost of postage and packing for all UK HEIs orders made by Thursday 30 June 2011.
