Programme Structure
Over two days, the programme covers a wide spectrum of topics including the evolution of higher education, universities’ core business (namely, learning and teaching, research, enterprise, and the student experience), the role of professional managers and administrators in supporting the academic endeavour, how institutions are influenced by new government policy, demographic shifts and the changing national and international scene, and what the future of the sector might look like. You will be encouraged to reflect on your own career and to be proactive about addressing your personal and professional development needs.
The programme enables you to share experiences and best practice with managers working in many different functions, across the full range of higher education institutions. As well as providing an induction, Introduction to Higher Education offers the long-term benefits of a network of peers across the UK, and a great foundation for future career development.
