The HR Business Partner Programme

A development programme for senior HR Business Partners in Higher Education

Introduction

Universities and colleges are complex environments, requiring political awareness, high level influencing skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate confidently with senior staff across the organisation. This development programme aims to identify and equip senior HR managers (for example, those working at the level below Deputy HR director, or as a senior HR business partner in a large academic area of the institution), with the competencies and political understanding required to stand out as an effective HR professional, capable of adding real value to delivery of the institutional mission during challenging times.

The programme is designed and delivered by Universities HR and the Leadership Foundation.

What have they said?

“A great opportunity to step outside the ‘pure’ HR environment, to consider how we engage with our businesses in order to be an enabler not a barrier. The programme was challenging without being overwhelming and I have gained some knowledge, valuable insights and tools to take back to my ‘day job’ and improve mine and my team's support of the business.” Helen Hymers, Heriot-Watt University
