We are delighted to launch Essentials of Budgeting, our newest online programme available exclusively to individuals from Leadership Foundation member institutions free of charge.
Essentials of Budgeting has been developed to prepare individuals to understand, contribute to, manage and review budgets. The programme is specific to higher education and focuses on the unique challenges of managing budgets within a university.
The ability to lead and manage budgets will be increasingly important as the sector faces deep transformational change.
Looking at the financial health of the sector, Hefce reports the increasing pressure on higher education institutions to generate surplus, a challenge in the increasingly turbulent sector landscape.
Enhancing the financial literacy of managers and leaders to make better management decisions will be critical to sustaining the growth and success of higher education institutions.
Essentials of Budgeting will help participants make more informed choices and contribute more effectively to strategic planning and organisational growth.
A self-directed learning tool, this new online programme is primarily for those seeking to get to grips with budgeting and grow confidence in their financial skills.
Tested and piloted with members of the Leadership Foundation and with the advice of BUFDG, Essentials of Budgeting focuses on developing the skills required to apply learning in real time.
Available exclusively to Leadership Foundation members, this resource is free to all individuals from member institutions.
Essentials of Budgeting includes six online modules. These are:
The final ‘Review’ module allows individuals to reflect on their learning.
