Leading change in Wales has never been more topical, and at this one-day event you will hear from the Welsh Assembly’s Cabinet Secretary for Education, Kirsty Williams AM, on her vision for the sector and from other experienced leaders in change, from both inside and outside of the sector. As well as talks, there will be plenty of opportunity to explore examples of best practice on navigating through the challenges of leading change, as well as an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from the sector.

Governors of Welsh institutions face the difficult challenge of horizon-scanning to ensure the long term sustainability of their HEis. At the same time, they confront the immediacy of governance responsibilities with respect to public good and promoting and protecting reputation, all in a climate of competition and turbulent change.

The shifting landscape of social, economic and political change in Wales provides the backdrop to this meeting where delegates will have the opportunity to listen to and debate emerging policy themes and their practical implications for the university sector. Leading voices in governance and diverse perspectives in higher education leadership will contribute to dialogue with new and continuing governors.
