The Innovation for Collaborative Teams Programme is designed for project teams working with an external local or national partner who currently have a project idea scoped out and a project team fully formed.

The key aim of the programme is to provide support to the project teams to help them accelerate their project through stimulus that will foster innovation, harness diversity of thought and new thinking/insights, to help the project achieve success.

We are specifically looking for projects that are already established but would benefit from a ‘reboot’ to advance their progress.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • More effectively “pitch” their project to funders and stakeholders, making a more compelling case for their work linking clearly with national and local goals across stakeholder groups.
  • Improve stakeholder engagement to increase their chances of delivering sustainable impact
  • Work more effectively with stakeholders to select ideas for change that are feasible and have the best chance of delivering the improvement they are looking to achieve.
  • Plan more powerful evaluations to demonstrate that the changes they made led to improvement.

Delivery of the pilot cohort will be split between two 1-day face-to-face modules, both to take place in London.

In addition, there will be a 90-minute online action learning set between modules one and two to support participants in their application of learning and enhance their project work.

Module One will:

  • empower teams to tackle the real root causes of the challenges faced by their locality
  • support teams to more clearly articulate their goals linking with local and national policy
  • encourage teams to grow their social capital to increase the impact and sustainability of their work and more effectively evaluate and communicate the difference they are making

Module Two will:

  • provide teams with a platform to present their experiences
  • enable teams to learn from the experiences of the other teams on the programme

Innovation for Collaborative Teams is aimed at project teams working with an external local or national partner who currently have a project idea scoped out and a project team fully formed.

This pilot programme is seeking six teams drawn from UK higher education institutions to participate in a series of activities between January and March 2018. Each team must put forward a minimum of three people to participate in the programme including one member from the external partner.

All spaces will be provided free of charge.

Please note, each team will need an executive sponsor to put them forward for this programme. The executive sponsor should be the senior responsible officer for the project responsible for final decisions about funding and ongoing work.

The application deadline is Friday 1 December 2017.

Following the application deadline, applications are passed to a panel, who will meet and discuss the applicant forms. All applicants will hear back on the status of their application by Thursday 7 December 2017.

This Application Form will need to include information from the executive sponsor as well as provide detail about the project. Once submitted, it will be reviewed by a selection panel.

The panel will assess the application against the following criteria:

  • A collaborative project that is fully formed both in terms of idea and team
  • A project that involves at least 1 external partner(s) at a local or national level
  • A commitment to evolving the project concepts further and moving the project forward
  • Institutional support by way of expenses and time commitment
  • A project focus that involves public good in some form, at a local or regional level
  • Executive sponsorship

All participant application forms should be submitted to Alice Johns, Programmes and Projects Manager, at alice.johns@lfhe.ac.uk. Please also contact Alice should you have any further questions about this form or the programme.

Please note that once we have received your application we may contact you to seek further information on your nominated project.
