Collaborative leadership across institutions in local places has never been more important. Ongoing decentralisation, widening gaps of economic performance and the differing implications of Brexit pose real and difficult challenges that can increasingly be solved by local partners working more closely together. Senior leaders need to better understand the background to these drivers, why these are critical to individual and collective success, and how they can provide the necessary leadership to find new solutions to the many challenges.
Supported by the investment of the four UK higher education funding councils, we are delighted to announce our new pilot development programme ‘Knowing Our Place? Strategic Leadership of University Local Partnerships’.
This 2-day residential programme will enable senior university leaders with strategic responsibility for local and regional partnership building to share experiences with each other, senior leaders from other anchor institutions as well as hear about the latest policy developments, practice and research findings on this important issue.
Based on extensive research led by Newcastle University and also connected to the recently published report from the Leadership Foundation, it will provide participants with an understanding of the underlying concepts and current policy drivers both centrally and locally.
Date: Wednesday 10 - Thursday 11 May 2017
As we will work with delegates as co-creators to help us refine this programme and leadership development around this agenda more broadly for the future, we are able to offer places free of charge to reflect this development input.
