What makes an effective head of department? It is a pivotal role in any higher education institution, but what do you have to know and do? Introduction to Head of Department provides the opportunity to explore the knowledge, and skills required; and to undertake diagnostics that will help identify the personal style of leadership.
The course significantly improved my confidence and my ability to take on the role of HoD. I had been very dubious about it beforehand, but both the facilitators and the participants taught me a lot about my strengths and about the role.
IHoD is all about introducing the tools, skills and techniques to become an effective and successful head of department. It is a short but intensive programme that will give the survival skills for the first few months in post so new heads can hit the ground running.

More and more universities are saying that they love our programmes but they’d just like this extra module or that small change, or that they have so many staff that they need to develop it would make more sense to run the programme on-site.
So why not design your own programme? Or run one of ours in-house for a number of your staff? We think it’s a great idea and we’ve been working with lots of institutions to make their leadership development vision work.
If you think our in-house option might work for your requirements why not have a chat with Sweta Purohit Jina who’d be happy to tell you about the programmes we’ve been working on and how this could be a really cost effective
solution for you.
