What's happened

Who's it for?

The one-day workshops, which are supported by online resources and activities,are designed for:

  • Programme/Module leaders
  • Those who would like assistance getting started with learning technologies, as well as people who want to extend their existing practice
  • Those running programmes for staff new to teaching
  • Staff supporting continuing professional development (CPD) of academics, professional and learner support staff.

How it will be delivered?

Workshop will involve both face-to-face and online sessions, supported by online resources. The main themes of the workshops – Online Learning, Open Practice, Social Media and Mobile Learning – cover a wide range of current and emerging technology enhanced learning tools.

The sessions will help with:

  • Practical guidance on using technology to enhance the teaching experience of tutors and the learning experience of students
  • How best to support staff new to teaching or more experienced staff wishing to update their practice
  • Educational and learning development support for technology enhanced learning
  • Change management strategies and processes in a range of departmental and institutional settings
  • Learner perspectives in using technology
  • Involvement of students as partners in curriculum design

Development Programme One-Day Events
The four one-day events DP1, DP2 (offered twice) and DP3 are set in a framework that has 3 key themes:

  • DP1 Knowledge and understanding (raising awareness, sharing practice, what works and why, practical guidance)
  • DP2 Influencing strategy and change processes to enable the embedding of learning technologies (consideration of contextual impact, identifying key factors and influences, enabling staff, action planning)
  • DP3 Personal professional development (digital literacy in the context of continuing professional development, capturing impact, opportunities for recognition and accreditation).

These events can be attended as stand-alone sessions or as a package of three. They are designed for both individuals and institutional teams. All events will be supported by online resources and there will be opportunities for follow up.

    For Educational developers or technology developers working with managers with responsibility for strategic change. Module/ programme leaders, educational developers, learning technologists, individuals and teams who support educational change in the disciplines.
  • DP3 The role of digital literacies in supporting continuing professional development in HE contexts
    29 May 2013, Aston Business School Conference Centre, The Aston Triangle Birmingham, West Midlands. 
    Open to all staff interested in or developing professional development programmes or opportunities for staff and accredited scheme leaders/teams

Academic workshop events
Each event focuses on a particular discipline area and showcases the application of learning technologies in that discipline. You need only attend one of the events. Each event runs between 09.30 and 16.00.
